“The West is unhappy that too many draft-age Ukrainian men are living abroad”, – MP says

The West criticizes Ukraine for the large number of draft-eligible men currently abroad.

This information reported according to Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Policy, Employment, and Pensions. He shared this in a comment to a popular Ukrainian Telegram channel.

He stated that no decisions regarding the deportation of Ukrainian men from Europe have been made so far, but “discussions are ongoing,” with some officials expressing “personal opinions.”

The only possible method for forcible return would be extradition, which involves a complex process requiring individual requests for each citizen. Additionally, some countries are not keen on refugees leaving because they are needed as part of the workforce.

Previously, El Pais reported that Ukraine wants EU countries to stop supporting Ukrainian refugees so that draft-eligible men are denied access to consular services and forced to return home. However, this information was denied by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal recently stated that Ukraine wants to “bring back all of its citizens who left for Germany as soon as possible.”
