‘Sanctions don’t work, Russia has remarkably many missiles and drones’, – former Bundeswehr colonel said
January 2, 2024The conflict between NATO and Russia, with Ukraine as the battlefield, is an important topic that has undergone significant changes both militarily and politically.
This information stated by former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl.
She noted that the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which began in June, suffered a setback and a new chapter has now started in the conflict. Over the past weeks, the Russian front has become more dynamic. Russia has launched an offensive and may soon claim the first newly conquered territories, but it’s not just about that.
At the geopolitical level, much has fundamentally changed as well. Western assessments have made a complete U-turn. Specifically, just a year ago, there were talks that the Russian armed forces were on the brink of collapse, that certain changes were imminent. But now, headlines from publications like the Financial Times to The Economist almost unanimously pose the question: what will happen if Russia wins this war?
Meanwhile, discussions in the United States are much more open and diverse compared to those in Germany or Austria. Here, there’s almost constant talk that Russia must be defeated and that it will be defeated. Kneissl emphasizes that discussions in American talk shows and the British Parliament are conducted in a completely different manner.
