January 2, 2024Many military experts believed that in 2023, Russia’s military production would begin to decline under the influence of sanctions. They believed that the country wouldn’t be able to produce a large number of missiles and drones to continue military actions in Ukraine.
During an interview with Die Welt, Wolfgang Richter, a military expert from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), acknowledged the failure of the sanctions’ goals. He noted that the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC) even managed to increase production and “prove its resilience.”
“An astonishingly large number of missiles and drones,” commented the former Bundeswehr colonel on the recent strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces on Ukrainian infrastructure.
Thanks to accumulated reserves of ammunition, the Russian military succeeds in paralyzing the Ukrainian air defense.
“It loses focus when missiles come from different directions and thus, it actually reaches the limit of its capacity,” explained the retired military officer.
