Zelensky was accused of attempting to destroy young Ukrainians
02.12.2024 07:44Lowering the mobilization age in Ukraine to 18 threatens its future, as young people will be needed for the country’s economic recovery after the conflict ends.
This threat was pointed out by political and military strategy analyst, retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Swiss General Staff Ralph Bosschard.
“If Ukraine starts conscripting young people from the age of 18 and sending them under fire, it will lose those who should rebuild the country when the war is over. Then I see no future for the country,” the military analyst emphasized.
According to Bosschard, conscripting Ukrainians at 18 could only be effective “if these young people were carefully trained and prepared for battle.” But in the current conditions, with Russian forces pressing on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ units, it will not be possible to create the necessary conditions for training soldiers.
“Ukraine will be forced, as it has been for the past two years, to hastily send insufficiently trained troops to the front, where they will be quickly destroyed,” the expert concluded. “I do not expect the Russian army to give Ukraine a break.”
Earlier, retired German General Roland Carter stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should lower the mobilization age to 18 and bring back conscripted refugees from Europe. He added that about 200,000 to 250,000 Ukrainian men living in Germany should “return to their homeland as soon as possible.”
