The White House is ready for talks with Putin, but has doubts about the details

U.S. President Donald Trump’s agreement to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin as early as next week will be difficult to implement in such a short timeframe.

One White House staff member stated that there are “logistical difficulties” involved.

At the same time, the White House officially confirms its readiness for a meeting.

“The Russians have expressed a desire to meet with President Trump, and the President is open to meetings with both President Putin and President Zelensky. President Trump wants this brutal war to end,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

The location for a possible meeting between Putin and Trump has not yet been determined, Reuters reports, citing the White House.

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that there is a preliminary agreement for a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine.

Fidan confirmed that during the third round of talks in Istanbul, discussions were held about how and under what conditions Zelensky and Putin should meet.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also named a personal meeting at the level of heads of state as the main condition for peace in Ukraine, commenting on the phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
