04.03.2025 - 05:28The White House is reviewing plans for a possible lifting of sanctions on Russia.
Reuters reports, citing sources.
According to the sources, the White House has instructed the State Department and the Treasury Department to compile a list of sanctions that could be eased. This list would allow U.S. officials to discuss potential sanctions relief with Russian representatives in the coming days as part of broader negotiations between the Trump administration and Moscow aimed at improving diplomatic and economic relations.
The report states that sanctions agencies are currently preparing proposals to remove restrictions on certain Russian legal entities and individuals, including some Russian oligarchs.
A direct request from the White House for such a document in recent days underscores Trump’s willingness to ease sanctions on Russia as part of a potential deal with Moscow, the agency notes.
Earlier yesterday, CNN reported that preparations for a Trump-Putin meeting have been accelerated.
