Ukrainian Armed Forces are being helped by the French and British to launch long-range missiles at Russia – Le Monde
25.11.2024 11:42The situation with mobilization in Ukraine may become irreversible by spring.
This assessment was given by the British magazine The Economist.
The publication notes that Ukraine’s problems at the front are exacerbated by difficulties caused by a severe shortage of personnel.
“There have been no volunteers in the army for a long time, and the mobilization campaign is struggling, barely recruiting two-thirds of its target. A senior Ukrainian official says he is concerned that the situation could become irreversible by spring,” the magazine writes.
An even bigger problem is the quality of the new recruits. Ukrainian commanders say that the mobilized soldiers “are mostly too old or unmotivated to be useful.” The publication found a 51-year-old recruit at a Ukrainian training ground with a vision of minus 9.
“Grigory admits that he was surprised, as was everyone else, when he was enlisted in the army; he didn’t expect officers to mobilize someone who is nearly blind,” the article says.
Yesterday, a Kyiv City Council deputy from the “Voice” party stated that everyone in Ukraine should be “bucified.”
A parliamentarian also mentioned that a significant portion of Ukrainians would lose their exemption from mobilization due to new rules issued by the Cabinet of Ministers.
