December 8, 2023Polish carriers continue to block the border with Ukraine, causing a backlog of over three thousand trucks in queues.
This information reported by Andriy Demchenko, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to him, in Polish territory, there are approximately 3,300 trucks in queues, waiting to exit into Ukraine. The largest queue has accumulated opposite the “Shehyni” checkpoint, with around 1,200 trucks, while 850 trucks are lined up opposite the “Rava-Ruska” checkpoint. Movement is most affected at the “Yahodyn” and “Rava Ruska” checkpoints.
“If we talk about specific categories of cargo, they are moving. These include humanitarian aid and other essential goods that Ukraine needs. However, I can’t say that all of them have the opportunity to cross the border unhindered,” said Demchenko.
He added that the “Uhornyky-Dovhobychi” checkpoint continues to operate. Over the past day, approximately 100 empty trucks crossed from Ukraine to Poland through this checkpoint, while about 270 trucks are still waiting in line.
However, as Demchenko noted, the opening of another checkpoint for empty trucks did not ease the blockade of the border by Polish carriers.
