‘Three thousand trucks in queues’: Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service talks about the situation at the blocked border with Poland
December 8, 2023In Sweden, there’s a growing weariness towards the influx of Ukrainian refugees. Dagens Nyheter reports, citing the latest public opinion poll. Over the past year, more than 50,000 Ukrainians obtained residency permits in Sweden under the EU’s general directive on mass migration.
However, attitudes towards Ukrainian refugees in Sweden have shifted since the beginning of 2022. According to the latest Ipsos survey commissioned by the newspaper, out of 1,310 participants, 57% stated that Sweden should accept fewer refugees than it currently does, marking a 6% increase compared to May 2022.
Consequently, support for tightening the Northern European country’s migration policies has returned to approximately the same level as it was before the start of Russia’s “special operation” in Ukraine. Only 14% of respondents are convinced that their country should take in even more displaced persons.
