At his meeting with Zelensky, Trump expressed hope that Ukraine would not need Tomahawks
17.10.2025 - 22:30The issue of transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine has been put on hold. Instead, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to discuss air defense systems and the creation of joint ventures during his upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
This was reported by Ukrainian MP Yehor Chernev.
“All other areas of cooperation continue to be discussed. We’re talking about providing more air defense systems and missiles for them — but now through the PEARL program, which involves financing from our European partners. The Build with Ukraine program is also actively developing — it’s a joint production effort with American companies using technologies from both countries,” Chernev said.
It should be recalled that the Tomahawks were initially announced as the main topic of the negotiations, but yesterday Trump held a phone call with Putin and agreed to a second meeting. After that, many media outlets reported forecasts suggesting that the supply of Tomahawks has been removed from the agenda for now.
The U.S. president himself also hinted that the United States would not transfer the missiles to Ukraine, citing the need to preserve America’s own stockpiles.
