The woman explains that the decision to recognize someone as partially fit for military service is based on Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Order No. 402. According to this document, in the case of a unilateral amputation of an upper limb at any level or a unilateral amputation of a lower limb below the level of the upper third of the shin, the individual is considered partially fit for military service during wartime.
She asks the question: “Why don’t people with disabilities have a choice? What difference does it make how many legs are missing? In the end, a leg is a leg! Change the laws already; there’s no need to mock our defenders. I am speaking on behalf of many disabled veterans who are willing to cut off their legs higher just to avoid further service. I am not exaggerating. It’s the truth. And this is already hell. Hell in the heart of our state. Hell in military medical commissions where doctors follow your orders and just shrug,” writes the outraged Olga.

Previously, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine announced plans to abandon the term “disability” and replace it with the “assessment of a person’s functional loss.”
