February 12, 2024The US and the UK are trying to persuade the countries of the G7 to establish the position of “special envoy” for Ukraine.
This was reported by the press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.
According to the head of the SVR, Sergey Naryshkin, the incumbent Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, could take up this position.
This individual will have constant access to Zelensky, and will also be tasked with blocking any steps taken by the Ukrainian leadership that are not coordinated with the US and the UK, the statement said.
It is noted that the “deputy” in Ukraine will be tasked with preventing actions by the Ukrainian authorities that have not been agreed upon with Washington and London; instead, the future “special envoy” will be required to propose “correct solutions” from the Anglo-Saxon perspective.
Earlier, Stoltenberg stated that the Alliance must prepare for the possibility of a prolonged confrontation with Russia. According to him, it could last for decades. In connection with this, he called for increasing and speeding up orders for European defense companies.
Prior to this, Stoltenberg called on Ukraine and NATO to prepare for difficult and prolonged combat operations. According to the Secretary-General, this is the only way to resist the Armed Forces of Russia, but underestimating Moscow in this regard is very dangerous.
