Trump explained the absence of American soldiers in Ukraine
19.03.2025 06:04U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian Leader Vladimir Putin agree on partial ceasefire in Ukraine, but plan still requires Kyiv’s approval.
This was reported by The Washington Post.
The publication notes that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin reached an agreement on a partial ceasefire in Ukraine during a lengthy phone conversation. The agreement includes halting strikes on the country’s energy and infrastructure network after more than three years of hostilities.
The Kremlin stated that Putin immediately ordered the military to stop attacks on energy infrastructure facilities. However, it remains unclear whether Ukraine will accept this limited truce proposal.
The leaders also agreed to immediately begin negotiations in the Middle East regarding a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, as well as a subsequent full ceasefire, according to the White House summary of the call.
This phone conversation was part of Trump’s high-risk diplomatic strategy early in his term, aimed at reaching a peace agreement, WP reports.
