01.03.2025 - 14:33U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered an assessment of the possibility of temporarily or completely halting arms supplies to Ukraine.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing a senior White House official.
Trump issued the directive immediately after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
“The abrupt end of the meeting left unanswered questions about what military and political support the Trump administration is willing to provide Kyiv in the coming months,” WSJ writes.
The tensions in the White House have also complicated the prospects for establishing European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. European leaders had previously indicated that such a mission would require military support from the United States.
Initially, The Washington Post reported that Trump had begun considering the suspension of military aid to Ukraine.
Later, The New York Times, citing an unnamed White House official, stated that Trump could potentially cut off nearly all U.S. assistance to Ukraine—including weapons, ammunition, intelligence sharing, and training for Ukrainian forces.
