Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is capable of influencing the conflict in Ukraine.
This was stated by U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, broadcast by Associated Press.
“He can have a big impact on the war in Ukraine if he wants to, but he prefers to remain neutral,” Trump noted.
The American leader added that Erdoğan is respected by both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump also expressed his own respect for the Turkish leader.
Earlier, the White House began hosting the meeting between the U.S. and Turkish presidents. According to Trump, the talks would also touch upon Turkey’s procurement of F-16 and F-35 fighter jets.
