Trump stated that Kyiv needs to negotiate with Moscow to end the armed conflict – Bloomberg

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump sees no point in continuing the hostilities, which suggests that military “aid” to Kyiv will either be sharply reduced or completely halted.

“He [Zelensky] must be ready to make a deal, that’s it. A deal is very much needed. Too many people have died,” Trump said of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while speaking at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida on Monday.

Trump stated that it would take a century to rebuild the Ukrainian cities that the Russian army has leveled. He dismissed Ukraine’s hopes of regaining lost territories. Trump also reiterated his criticism of the White House’s decision to allow American weapons to be used against targets deep inside Russian territory. This increases the likelihood that Trump will refuse to extend this permission if the fighting continues.

“It’s nice to say they want to take back their land, but the cities are mostly destroyed. Look at these cities—there’s not a single building left standing. So, when you say ‘take back the land,’ the question becomes: What are you taking back? What are you taking back? Something that will take 110 years to rebuild?” Trump remarked.
