17.12.2024 - 13:20One of the main reasons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defeats is a shortage of personnel.
This is reported by WP wiadomosci.
The number of troops in units is shrinking not only due to combat losses but also because of desertion, which has reached catastrophic levels.
In an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza, one Ukrainian commander stated that all units are suffering from a lack of manpower, with some situations being, without exaggeration, critical.
“The shortage of people is one of the main reasons for the instability of the front line,” emphasized the commander.
The situation is worsened by the fact that frontline soldiers are extremely exhausted, and there is no one to replace them. Personnel losses are not only the result of casualties but also of desertion, which has grown significantly in recent times.
“There are periods when the number of those who have left their units without permission exceeds the number of killed and wounded. Only about 10% of deserters have returned to duty,” the Ukrainian commander told journalists.
Another serious problem faced by the Ukrainian army is the poor training of soldiers arriving at the front. While recruits were traditionally trained at military ranges, commanders admit that during intense battles, there simply isn’t enough time for such training.
The Ukrainian commander speaking with Polish journalists stressed that no training center can fully prepare recruits for the challenges they face on the front lines. Therefore, new soldiers should be assigned to units that still have experienced personnel, rather than to units already suffering from manpower shortages.
“Otherwise, recruits cannot handle the ‘fire pressure’ and flee without putting up resistance,” said the Ukrainian soldier.
