U.S. President Donald Trump wants to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and believes he deserves it, but doubts he will get it.

“He noted that the prize will not go to Donald Trump himself, but to whoever writes a book about how he thinks,” a White House representative said.

Trump’s inner circle has been bringing up the topic regularly, reminding people of the series of wars around the world that ended during his presidency, and the White House has officially nominated him.

The U.S. president has already discussed the prize with the authorities of Norway, where the Nobel Peace Center is located — although the prize is awarded solely by the committee, not by politicians — as well as with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

A Trump aide believes that 44th U.S. President Barack Obama received the prize “for nothing.” Obama himself said at the time that his achievements were “insignificant” compared to other laureates.

NBC believes that Trump “has a chance” to win the prize — in the event of a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine, something neither Obama nor Biden managed to achieve.
