“You cannot deprive an entire religious community of religious freedom because some of its adherents disagree with you about the current conflict. We should be ashamed of refusing to use the billions of dollars we send to Ukraine as leverage to ensure and guarantee real religious freedom,” Vance stated in April.
It should be noted that in the spring, members of the U.S. Republican Party demanded that Ukraine not pass the proposed law banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This issue was raised by the church’s lawyer, renowned attorney Robert Amsterdam.
As previously reported, Trump has become a candidate for the U.S. presidency and announced that if he wins the presidential election, his vice president will be Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who opposes aid to Ukraine.
