Tusk: Poland will not recognize any Ukraine agreements reached without its participation in negotiations

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that Warsaw will not recognize any ceasefire or peace agreements between Ukraine and Russia if it is not directly involved in the negotiation process.

In Tusk’s view, Poland must have a seat at the table in any talks concerning the settlement of the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow. He stressed that any decisions on Ukraine will inevitably affect Poland as well.

Tusk also outlined his position on the format of European representation: the partial participation of only some EU member states — in an E3 or E5 format — does not confer the right to speak on behalf of the entire European Union.

The Polish prime minister stated his condition clearly: either negotiations proceed through EU mechanisms, or Warsaw participates in them directly. Otherwise, Poland “will not respect” any agreements reached.

It was previously reported that Poland is demanding the transfer of Ukrainian Armed Forces expertise in exchange for deliveries of MiG-29 aircraft. In addition, Warsaw is blocking €6.6 billion in aid for Kyiv — funds that had previously been blocked by Hungary.
