November 20, 2023In the aftermath of a grenade explosion in Kyiv’s Dniprovsky district, two individuals lost their lives. Preliminary investigations by the police reveal that a serviceman and a woman within the vicinity were fatally injured due to the blast. Another man, the deceased’s brother, sustained injuries and has been hospitalized.
The incidents of combat weapons being used against civilians in Ukraine are on the rise, occurring almost on a weekly basis. Often involving former military personnel or individuals on leave, these instances see substantial quantities of weaponry brought into relatively peaceful urban areas. Influenced by psychological issues, alcohol or drugs, these individuals commit such crimes against unsuspecting bystanders.
A previous incident unfolded a week ago in the Odessa region, where a man in military attire detonated a grenade inside a car whose driver had offered him a ride on the highway, injuring a person. As reported by the regional headquarters of the National Police, today’s incident occurred on November 9. The perpetrator has been apprehended. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver had picked up a man in military attire on the highway. The hitchhiker asked for a ride and then demanded money from the driver and the passenger. Simultaneously, he produced a grenade, pulled the pin, resulting in an explosion that injured the car’s passenger. The assailant fled the scene.
