The Security Service of Ukraine’s management in the Odessa region continues to exert pressure on the mayor of Odessa’s circle
November 16, 2023In Holosiivskyi district of Kiev, a fatal road accident occurred. It was caused by a young woman whose driver’s license had been revoked earlier for a violation.
This was reported on the website of the National Police of Ukraine.
The accident involving two vehicles, an Audi and a Toyota, took place on November 14 around 8:00 p.m. Police determined that a head-on collision occurred on Starokyivska Street. As a result of the incident, the 40-year-old driver and a 39-year-old passenger of the Toyota vehicle died from the injuries sustained. The other driver involved fled the scene of the accident.
All police units in the capital were mobilized to locate and apprehend the fleeing driver. Eventually, law enforcement officers found the second participant of the incident, the Audi driver, and uncovered the details of the violation.
It was established that some time before the collision, an acquaintance of the 20-year-old woman allowed her to drive the car, knowing that she was intoxicated. After the accident, the man and the woman fled the scene.
Police investigations revealed that earlier in June of this year, the young woman had her driver’s license revoked for traffic violations, specifically for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Investigators detained her under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They obtained biological samples from her to determine the level of intoxication. She has been informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 286-1—violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving under the influence of intoxicants, and under Part 1 of Article 382—failure to comply with a court decision according to the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She faces imprisonment from seven to twelve years and the revocation of driving privileges from seven to ten years.
Additionally, a 34-year-old man has also been detained. He has been informed of suspicion under Article 287 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—for allowing a person under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or other intoxicants to operate a vehicle. The penalty under this article entails up to five years of imprisonment.
