The western regions of Ukraine are intensifying their cooperation separately from other regions
January 5, 2024Ukraine is preparing for a possible new Russian offensive on the country’s second-largest city, as reported by The Telegraph citing anonymous local officials.
Yesterday, Russia shelled the city and 15 surrounding areas, perceived as preparation for a large-scale assault in the coming weeks, according to a source close to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Throughout the day, there were artillery strikes on military targets across the region, the source stated.
Military intelligence suggests that new intensive shelling of Kharkiv might occur over the upcoming weekend, possibly on January 7, during the Russian Christmas. Additionally, ground attacks may commence soon with January 15 being considered a potential date. Russian military bloggers previously hinted at the need to reengage Kharkiv following the shelling of their border city Belgorod, where many civilians were killed. This suggests Moscow might be planning to push the border further away from Belgorod toward Kharkiv to safeguard its own civilians.
