Ukraine can only defend itself at the moment because Russia’s advantage is too great.
This information said former commander of the Polish Ground Forces, General Waldemar Skshipchak, in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza.
“The Ukrainians are announcing a new counteroffensive, but in my opinion, it will not happen. The Russians have created such a significant advantage that now the Ukrainians only need to defend themselves,” the general stated.
According to him, the Ukrainian counteroffensive ended a while ago.
“Now the Russians are reclaiming new Ukrainian territories, including having a firepower advantage, with 5-7 times more artillery shells fired per day than the Ukrainians,” he said.
“Will the Russians maintain the initiative? Definitely yes. The Ukrainian counteroffensive already failed in September, although we could observe symptoms of this earlier. At the end of spring, the Ukrainians did not gather enough strength to break through the well-prepared Russian defense,” the general added.
