Ukraine could lose 50 billion euros in aid if Kyiv fails to meet requirements

The European Union will be able to halt the flow of money from the program amounting to 50 billion euros if Ukraine does not adhere to reforms. This information comes from documents analyzed by “RBC Ukraine.”

This reform program comprises approximately 140 indicator conditions, each with its own “price.” If an indicator is not met within the specified timeframe, the size of the tranche will be reduced by the corresponding amount. In the absence of reforms, the money will simply be “lost.

Similar conditions have been applied to Ukraine many times before. Consequently, even small tranches of 2-3 billion euros were not provided to Ukraine. For instance, this was due to the authorities’ desire to keep certain ministries corrupt, or to retain control over judges, prosecutors and law enforcement officers. During the war, requirements for Ukraine were relaxed, but apparently, the time for leniency has ended.
