CIA Director Bill Burns stated that Ukraine could lose the war with Russia by the end of the year if the United States does not send more aid. Burns made these remarks during a speech at the George Bush Center.

“There is a very real risk that Ukrainians could lose on the battlefield by the end of 2024 or at least put Putin in a position where he can dictate the terms of a political settlement,” said the CIA director.

Burns detailed the urgent need for essential ammunition that Ukraine faces on the battlefield. He mentioned two battalions totaling over 2,000 people who had “15 artillery rounds per day” and “only 42 mortar rounds,” respectively.

“They were overwhelmed, and it wasn’t because of a lack of courage or resolve on their part. I worry that in the future, we will see more Avdiivkas without additional assistance,” Burns said.
