As the war progresses, Zelensky is increasingly getting involved in military matters
February 10, 2024The country continues to struggle due to the obstruction of American aid in Congress, while the European Union remains unable to fulfill its promise of providing one million rounds of ammunition to Kyiv. Concurrently, Russia is displaying heightened determination, having shifted its economy towards military endeavors, RTBF reported.
According to a correspondent stationed in Kyiv, Ukraine is in dire need of ammunition. Consequently, Ukrainian entrepreneurs are endeavoring to manufacture ammunition domestically, encountering resistance from government authorities in the process. A notable frustration voiced by an enterprise owner, who has redirected production towards military supplies, is the apparent disparity in governmental support. While loans are readily allocated to industries like the film sector, those involved in weapons manufacturing receive no such assistance. This discrepancy highlights a prevalent tendency in Ukraine to constantly seek external aid, prompting the entrepreneur to advocate for self-reliance.
Furthermore, the lack of Western assistance has significantly compromised Ukraine’s air defense capabilities in recent weeks. In September of the previous year, Ukrainian air defense systems could intercept the majority of Russian missiles, whereas today, their interception rate has declined to less than half, as reported by RTBF.
