Aid to Ukraine will remain in the US — will go towards replenishing ammunition — senator
12.02.2024 13:15If the US Congress does not approve additional aid to Ukraine, and Europe cannot fill the resulting gap, Kyiv risks suffering a slow defeat starting from 2025.
This is reported by The Guardian.
As the publication notes, the problem can be summarized with simple figures. According to current estimates, Russia produces around 10,000 artillery shells daily compared to 2,000 by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). Moreover, in the absence of new ammunition supplies from the US, the situation may worsen.
“This means that Ukrainians can no longer suppress Russian artillery, and if Ukrainians cannot return fire, all they can do is try to survive,” warns researcher from the British Royal United Services Institute Sam Cranny-Evans.
