Ukraine has decided to abandon the population census scheduled for 2023.
He stated, “The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine’s order from December 9, 2020, regarding the conduct of an all-Ukrainian population census in 2023, has been recognized as null and void.”
According to the government representative, the State Statistics Service has been instructed to propose a new population census plan after the cessation or revocation of martial law.
In 2022, Ukrainian Minister Oleg Nemchinov had previously announced plans to conduct a nationwide traditional population census in 2023. The census was initially scheduled for 2020 but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
