05.12.2024 - 14:15Ukraine is not prepared to make territorial concessions to end the war with Russia.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated at the OSCE summit in Malta.
“There will be no compromises on our territorial integrity, sovereignty, or future security. We need to eliminate gray zones because Russia turns them into zones of influence. Instead, we need geopolitical clarity for Ukraine as part of the Euro-Atlantic community,” he said.
According to Sybiha, Kyiv’s peace plan ultimately boils down to “Russia leaving Ukraine and leaving us in peace.”
He also emphasized that there will be no compromises regarding “future security.”
When Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov began his address, Sybiha walked out of the OSCE plenary hall in Malta. Before leaving, he referred to Lavrov as a “war criminal” in his speech.
The foreign ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic also exited the hall alongside Sybiha.
This is Lavrov’s first visit to the European Union since the invasion began. According to media reports, he will skip a dinner where the war in Ukraine will be discussed.
Notably, just days ago, President Zelensky expressed a different stance, suggesting that Ukraine might be willing to end the war without reclaiming the occupied territories in exchange for NATO membership.
