Ukraine may lose hope for closer ties with the U.S. — Tageszeitung

Following the Pentagon’s decision to suspend certain arms deliveries to Ukraine, Kyiv may lose its opportunity to strengthen ties with Washington.

This opinion was expressed by the German newspaper Tageszeitung.

The European publication described the U.S. decision on weapons supplies as “fatal.”

“The U.S. announcement of the cancellation [of certain arms deliveries] came at the worst possible moment,” the article states.

After the Pentagon’s announcement, Ukrainians may now lose hope that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump “can still achieve anything together,” the newspaper added.

At the same time, the article notes that many Ukrainian citizens had already given up illusions — particularly when it comes to expectations of continued Western military support.
