Ukraine planned to additionally mobilize 200,000 people by the end of the year – The Washington Post

After tightening mobilization laws in the spring, Ukraine planned to mobilize an additional 200,000 people by the end of the year.

This was reported by The Washington Post, citing Ukrainian officials.

However, “some believe this is still not enough.” In this context, the newspaper writes that Western countries are urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to begin drafting 18-year-olds into frontline service.

The article notes that the President’s Office has refused to do so, citing a lack of weapons, but casts doubt on these claims.

“While Zelensky has repeatedly stated that his newly formed brigades lack the weapons promised by the West, those on the front lines complain that their units are short on personnel and are facing much larger Russian forces,” the article states.
