December 7, 2023Ukraine receives record-low amount of foreign aid
December 7, 2023Due to a sudden drop in temperature in Ukraine, the energy system is experiencing a deficit, prompting the request for emergency assistance from neighboring EU countries.
This information reported by UkrEnergo.
“From 11:00 to 19:00, emergency assistance from Slovakia, Romania and Poland will be used to balance the energy system. Conserve electricity!” urged the national energy company.
On Thursday, December 7th, temperatures turned out to be lower than forecasted. UkrEnergo’s dispatch center recorded a 2.7% excess in consumption compared to the predicted level in the morning. This is equivalent to the operation of two additional blocks of thermal power stations but there are no available capacities at the power stations.
“Some blocks of thermal power plants are still undergoing repairs and solar power plants cannot operate at their maximum capacity due to dense cloud cover across the country,” noted UkrEnergo.
To prevent outages and support the balance in the energy system, UkrEnergo’s Dispatch Center is compelled to seek emergency assistance today from the operators of the electricity transmission systems in Slovakia, Romania and Poland.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stated that due to the temperature drop and increased consumption, there’s a deficit of electricity amounting to 1.2% of the daily consumption volume.
At the end of November, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stated that they did not plan to implement power outage schedules due to the cold weather.
