Putin voiced Russia’s position on negotiations with Ukraine
August 1, 2025The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will fulfill another European Union (EU) requirement in the matter concerning the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) by appointing Oleh Tsyvynskyi, a detective from NABU, as head of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES).
This was announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
According to the report, the Prime Minister met with Tsyvynskyi, and they agreed to resolve any issues and doubts through a civilized process involving a polygraph test.
“[This] eliminates any room for manipulation and allows us to move forward,” Svyrydenko concluded.
Journalists pointed out that the EU had explicitly demanded that Kyiv appoint a new head of the BES as part of its reform commitments.
On July 22, Ukraine passed a controversial law reducing NABU’s powers, which President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the same day. This triggered protests in Kyiv and other cities. On July 31, Zelensky signed another law that restored the authority and independence of the anti-corruption bodies.
