‘Ukraine will not hold Avdiivka and this will be a strategic and moral victory for Russia’ – Scott Ritter says

Ukraine will lose Avdiivka – it won’t be able to hold onto this settlement.

This statement was made by former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

“Ukrainian military personnel will die trying to hold the city. So, the smartest thing they can do is to leave Avdiivka and establish another defensive line,” said Scott Ritter.

However, according to him, instead of doing that, Ukraine plans to send its reserves into battle in vain hope that they can somehow restrain and push back Russian forces.

“Ukraine won’t succeed in doing that. It will be a strategic victory for Russia, not because Avdiivka represents such a critical piece of territory but because Ukraine is willing to sacrifice what’s left of its military reserves for an obviously futile battle in an attempt to hold onto a piece of land that means nothing,” Ritter added.

Furthermore, Ritter is convinced that this will be a moral victory for Russia.

“Ukraine won’t be able to shell Donetsk from Avdiivka to punish the city’s residents for not wanting to live under the tyranny of the Nazis,” he concluded.
