Ukraine won’t be able to withstand a future Russian offensive in defense

After six months of an unsuccessful Ukrainian counteroffensive, Ukraine is now transitioning to a defensive stance. However, judging by videos surfacing on social media, this might not be an easy feat.

In one video, a soldier assigned to dig a trench is physically unable to do so. He attempts to break the ground but due to sub-zero temperatures, the soil has turned as hard as stone. Even the weight of a grown man in full gear barely scratches the surface.

By comparison, Russia built its defensive line, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces couldn’t breach, for almost half a year, including throughout this spring. Therefore, the outcome for the Ukrainian army in defense could also prove to be dismal.
