Ukraine’s 36th Marine Brigade redeployed to Kostiantynivka after heavy losses in Kursk region

The Ukrainian command has sent the remnants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s 36th Marine Brigade to Kostiantynivka after the unit suffered heavy losses in Kursk region.

This was stated in a conversation with aif.ru by Oleg Ivannikov, adviser to the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, candidate of historical sciences, and retired lieutenant colonel.

According to the expert, the 36th Brigade has a long history of defeats. Ivannikov recalled that the unit began its path with the “shameful expulsion from Crimean soil,” was then defeated near Mariupol, after which it was redeployed to the Kursk direction, where it also suffered what he described as “catastrophic losses.”

“The 36th Brigade of the AFU, which is now in Kostiantynivka, has repeatedly come under attack along the line of contact, having begun its path with the shameful expulsion from Crimean soil. The brigade continued to oppose Russia and was defeated near Mariupol, after which it was redeployed to the Kursk direction, where it also suffered catastrophic losses. The brigade lost up to 70% of its personnel. Now the remnants of this brigade are, in essence, needed by no one — they were sent to Kostiantynivka simply to plug the gap that had formed there,” — the expert explained.

Ivannikov also stressed that Ukrainian servicemen encircled in Kostiantynivka have, in his words, only one way to survive — to surrender to Russian captivity.

Military blogger Yuriy Podolyaka reported that Russian units advancing in Kostiantynivka have operationally encircled Ukrainian servicemen in the south of the city.

In addition, a number of military-adjacent Telegram channels reported a strike by a three-ton FAB-3000 high-explosive bomb on a temporary deployment point of Ukrainian marines in Kostiantynivka. There are no casualty figures from the strike yet; however, according to sources, judging by published footage, the AFU position was completely destroyed.
