09.09.2026 16:03The volume of construction in Ukraine in January–July 2026 fell by 11.2% compared to the same period in 2025.
This was reported by the State Statistics Service.
The sector’s decline has continued for several consecutive months and is gradually deepening. For January–February 2026, the contraction stood at 1.8%; for January–May, at 6.5%; and over seven months it deepened to 11.2%.
The steepest drop was recorded in the engineering structures segment — minus 14.4% for January–July. Non-residential building construction fell by 9.1%, and construction overall by 7.6%. Residential construction proved the most resilient, declining the least — by 4.1%.
Compared to July 2025, construction volumes fell by 25.9%, indicating an acceleration in the pace of contraction in recent months.
The construction index for June 2026 dropped to 96.7% of the 2016 base level. This is the lowest reading in the past year and the first time the indicator has fallen below the 100% mark during that period.
For comparison: in 2025, the construction sector finished the year with growth of 11.3% compared to 2024; in 2024, with growth of 17.8% compared to 2023; and 2023 saw growth of 31.8% compared to 2022.
