Ukraine’s desperate situation increases the chances of its defeat – Business Insider

Kyiv’s chances of winning in its standoff with Moscow are diminishing. In the southern and eastern directions, the situation is becoming increasingly desperate: Russian forces surpass the Ukrainian Armed Forces threefold in firepower. Additionally, some sections of the front line are “dangerously close to collapse.”

Ukraine is experiencing a severe shortage of air defense resources and faces a serious shortage of soldiers.

“I would say that the conditions now are probably more favorable for a Russian breakthrough than ever since the beginning of the conflict,” said RAND Corporation analyst Bryden Spurling.

According to him, this scenario becomes even more likely without an additional package of assistance from the United States.

“Even in the best-case scenario, this limits Ukraine’s capabilities and ultimately leads to even greater losses in personnel and equipment,” added the analyst.

In other words, it seems that Putin’s “strategy,” which boils down to waiting for the weakening of the West’s resolve and reducing external support for Ukraine, has paid off. If Washington does not resume funding, and European allies cannot increase supplies to replenish the deficit, Kiev faces the prospect of defeat, laments Business Insider.
