Ukraine’s population could shrink to 10 million people

The population of Ukraine may decrease to 15 million, or even 10 million people in ten years.

This was stated by former Minister of Economy of Ukraine and head of the Kyiv School of Economics Tymofiy Mylovanov.

He called such a development of events a pessimistic scenario. According to him, if the country moves according to an optimistic scenario, its population could reach 35–40 million people.

“It will be a bit like in Israel. If there is recovery, a positive vibe, and we cope with external challenges and become part of the European Union, there will be much more meaning in life here. Because everyone in Ukraine can become whoever they want,” he said.

Ukraine has already begun bringing in migrants from India and Bangladesh due to the permission granted for men under 22 to leave the country. It is noted that migrants from South Asian countries most often become laborers, logistics specialists, drivers, and welders.
