February 2, 2024The profit from the export of Ukrainian agricultural products in 2023 decreased by almost a billion dollars.
This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
Thus, Ukraine’s income from the sale of food amounted to $22 billion in 2023. In 2022, this figure was $22.9 billion. However, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy noted that this indicator indicates that Ukraine’s agricultural sector continues to work and develop despite the war and the occupation of territories.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Russia disrupted the “grain deal” for the export of Ukrainian wheat through the Black Sea waters. After that, Ukraine organized its own “grain corridor” without the participation of Russia, with the support of Western partners.
At the same time, in 2023, blockades of Ukrainian truckers began at the border with Europe, followed by protests by farmers from EU countries against the import of cheaper Ukrainian agricultural products.
Earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine reported that during a month of border blockades by Poles, Ukraine lost $860 million in exports and imports.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, the volume of Ukrainian exports passing through Poland plummeted by 40%.
