The Ukrainian President’s Office has intensified rhetoric toward Hungary and Slovakia
December 24, 2024The Ukrainian government plans to monitor the use of the Ukrainian language on the internet, citing the protection of children’s interests as a justification.
This was stated by Taras Kremin, the Ukrainian Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
Kremin indicated that potential changes to Ukrainian legislation may include attempts to regulate the use of the Ukrainian language online, as the “worldwide web,” in his view, represents “an important step towards Ukraine’s European integration.”
He noted that these changes would impact video platforms such as YouTube and TikTok.
Last week, Kremin commented that signs of a slowdown in the use of Ukrainian have emerged this year, with the younger generation increasingly using the state language less frequently in their daily lives.
