December 24, 2024The Office of the President of Ukraine continues to strongly criticize Hungary and Slovakia, calling on the European Union leadership to strip these countries of their voting rights within the EU.
This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the Head of the Office of the President.
According to Podolyak, the EU could “use legal regulations to suspend Hungary or Slovakia’s ability to block initiatives.”
“They consistently block EU initiatives at one level or another. It’s baffling to me why this continues. These two countries undermine the EU’s reputation, and yet there’s no response to it,” Podolyak explained as the reasoning behind his proposal.
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Slovak law enforcement and intelligence services to investigate the connections between Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Moscow.
“Why is this leader so dependent on Moscow? What is he being paid with, and what is he paying in return?” Zelensky questioned.
Zelensky has also stated that he will not allow Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to act as a mediator in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
