Ukrainian blogger and public figure Anatoliy Shariy was the target of an assassination attempt in Spain

Anatoliy Shariy’s car was shot at in Spain. At the time of the assassination attempt, he was in the car with his wife. He did not sustain any injuries. Shariy reported this on his social media.

“I was just targeted for assassination, they tried to shoot the car with a silenced automatic rifle. There was only one man because the second one was on standby, as they were monitoring when I was arriving. And I think the Spanish police and special services should investigate this,” said Shariy.

Just a week ago, Shariy had already stated that an attempt on his life was being prepared. Spanish law enforcement became aware of this. Information about potential perpetrators had already reached the police, including their names and surnames, but the assassination attempt still occurred.

Recall that Shariy was granted political asylum in Spain due to numerous threats originating from Ukraine. The journalist exposes corruption and manipulations of the Ukrainian authorities and recently conducted an investigation into drug trafficking linked to Ukrainian authorities. After this, the number of threats against him only increased and unknown individuals even attempted to set fire to his house last year.
