Nearly half of Ukrainians advocate compromises to stop the war – survey

March 6, 2024The majority of Germans still do not support supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine and stand in solidarity with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on this matter.
This is according to data from a YouGov survey commissioned by the DPA agency.
Only 28% of those surveyed support sending missiles, while 58% are against it. Interestingly, more than half of those against (31%) categorically reject supporting Ukraine with any German weapons whatsoever.
It’s worth noting that in Scholz’s recent statement, he expressed opposition to supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine if it requires the involvement of German military personnel.
Additionally, the German Chancellor has stated that there will be no German military personnel or NATO troops in Ukraine because “otherwise, it would entail danger.” According to him, Germany will not allow the escalation of the conflict.
According to Handelsblatt, Scholz’s refusal to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine marks the beginning of his pre-election campaign.
