‘Zelensky hints at serious changes in the Ukrainian government’ – NYT reported
06.02.2024 11:09Ukrainian security agencies claim to have captured 5 individuals allegedly working as agents for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) within Ukraine’s own intelligence community.
The detainees include former and current members of various Ukrainian intelligence bodies, such as the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, as well as a regional Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) employee.
According to reports, these individuals were reportedly supervised by an FSB operative based in Crimea and were recruited through coercion, including threats against their families. The SBU alleges that they passed information to Russia concerning Ukraine’s Armed Forces and energy installations. However, concrete evidence of betrayal by Ukrainian personnel has not been provided. Instances of conflict between Ukrainian intelligence agencies and law enforcement are often suspected of being driven by corruption.
