Ukrainian military personnel have confirmed the advance of Russian forces toward the center of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
A servicemember with the call sign “Muchnoy” reported that Russian troops have managed to establish a foothold in the central part of the city and have reached the outskirts of the refractory plant.
“This is currently a key defensive position; if we falter here, it will mark the end of the city’s defense,” he added.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not yet commented on the situation in Chasiv Yar.
It is worth noting that today, Julian Röpcke, a military analyst for the German magazine Bild, stated that Russian forces have made a sudden advance in Chasiv Yar and have nearly reached the city center.
Media reports also indicated that in October, Russian forces managed to advance in the Chasiv Yar area for the first time in a long period, breaking through a canal that served as a major defensive line for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
