“We cannot reclaim all of our territory”: Zelensky stated he is ready for direct negotiations with Putin
04.02.2025 - 21:42There are no defensive fortifications behind the village of Orekhovo in Donetsk region, which lies on the border with Dnipropetrovsk region.
This was reported by journalist Andriy Tsapliyenko, citing a soldier stationed in the area.
“Fortifications are our pain and our repeated mistake. On the map, you can see the village of Orekhovo. Essentially, it is the last significant stronghold in Donetsk region along the ‘route’ of the occupiers moving toward Dnipropetrovsk. Our soldiers, who are sounding the alarm, reached out to me—they are watching closely and do not see any serious defensive trenches being dug behind Orekhovo. The worst part is that enemy drones are already scouting this area. They see the same thing that our soldiers see,” he wrote.
The journalist also quoted a soldier on the matter.
“This has been happening since 2022. I remember how we retreated from Avdiivka, from Bakhmut—it was the same story. The infantry will retreat and start digging, but it will be in vain. The same goes for pilots and mortar teams. Because of this, the retreat speed multiplies by five,” wrote what Tsapliyenko described as “a man with ten years of combat experience.”
Earlier, Ukrainian forces stated that there are no strong fortifications behind Pokrovsk on the way to Dnipro.
