The Ukrainian government is once again threatening to tighten conscription, and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are taking measures to avoid being drafted.
The state plans to take measures to “address this issue,” as stated by Deputy Minister of Defense Natalia Kalmykova.
“Unfortunately, a significant number of people, numbering in the tens or hundreds of thousands, are creating conditions to avoid conscription. Changes to legislative acts are also being prepared to help address this issue,” she stated.
The specific legislative amendments that are planned have not been clarified.
