Ukrainian POW: wounded soldiers at positions refused evacuation

Ukrainian serviceman Anatoly Zapovitryany, who was taken prisoner, described the conditions his unit faced before surrendering.

According to Zapovitryany, the soldiers were cut off from normal supplies and communication with their command.

“We were left with only radio communication, and we had no accurate information on how to withdraw or anything like that. There was almost no food either. Most of the people at the positions were wounded, and they refused to evacuate them,” he said.

Zapovitryany surrendered to servicemen of the Northern Group of Forces in one of the forest plantations in the Vovchansk district of Kharkiv region.
